FAQs

What is the difference between Slash and Longleaf pine straw?

Premium Longleaf averages 12-14” in length; it has a brighter, redder color and has a higher resin content, slowing its biodegradable qualities. Slash averages 7-9” in length, is a little darker in color, and does not last as long as longleaf. Due to its limited availability, longleaf tends to be more expensive, but lasts longer.

We do offer to put your order out on the day that works best for you, for pick up at your convenience. Please wait for confirmation that your order is ready!

Can we store it and use it later?

Absolutely. It is best to store under cover if for a longer period of time.

Of course. Please contact us so that we can quickly get you a personalized quote for delivery and installation.

How many bales will I need?

Each bale covers approximately 45-50 square feet at a 2-3 inch depth. If you are using pine straw for the first time in a given area, plan for about 40 square feet coverage per bale for appropriate first application. You can never add too much pine straw. You can, however, use too little, limiting the effectiveness of the pine straw mulch.

How long will the color last?

Longleaf will last between 9-12 months, in normal weather conditions, whereas slash can last between 6-9 months, depending on weather conditions. The benefits of the pine needles will still be there, but you may consider refreshing the color once it has faded.

What do I need when picking up my bales?

Please bring your payment, if not purchased online, and anything you will need to secure your bales if necessary.
